TOP NEWS

Roy is a romantic thriller that has an ensemble cast which boasts of Ranbir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles. Anupam Kher also has a short role in the film. Roy revolves around two parallel stories, both focusing on love and partial betrayal. Arjun Rampal plays the role of Kabir Grewal, a Casanovic filmmaker who falls in love with another filmmaker Ayesha Amir, who is played by Jacqueline Fernandez. The two fall in love yet break apart when Ayesha learns about Kabir’s Casanovic lifestyle from the past.

In another story, Jacqueline plays Tia, the owner of an internationally acclaimed and priceless painting. Her possession attracts Roy, played by Ranbir Kapoor who unknown to her, is an international art thief.

The film was promoted by being mentioned in famous reality television shows such as Comedy Nights with Kapil and Big Boss. Roy’s trailer created an online sensation when it was first uploaded on Youtube on 17th December 2014, garnering an impressive one million views that first day. The song from the film, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan was probably the only aspect of the film which was well received by the audience! ubhash K Jha gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and said “An intriguing journey that leads nowhere”. Firstpost left the film with no rating also referring to the film as “a slog to sit through with too many unnecessary songs and diversions and not enough meat to either thrill or entertain.”

NDTV rated the film 2 out of 5 stars and called the film boring enough to make almost everyone sleep. Rediff rated the film 0.5 out of 5 stars and called the film “A Slow Torture”. Despite the scathing criticism and drubbing the film received from industry critics, the movie still managed to claim the spot for highest grossing film in India for 2015.
