Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets today for Eid moon sighting

ISLAMABAD: Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today in Islamabad for sighting Eid ul Fitr (Shawwal) moon while the zonal committees will hold meetings at their respective locations.

Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman will preside over the meeting.

Meteorological and other concerned departments will provide technical assistance to the moon sighting committee.

Muslims throughout the world celebrate Eid ul Fitr on first of Shawwal after end of the fasting month of Ramazan.

Pakistan Meteorological Department says there is high chance of sighting of Shawwal moon on Friday. In that case, Eid ul Fitr will fall on Saturday.

Eidul Fitr is being celebrated in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province  including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera and Bannu districts being observed today.

Eidul Fitr also being celebrated at Chaman in Balochistan, after the local moon sighting committee announced sighting of moon in the area on Thursday.
