Rafique’s counsel Tariq Aziz in his petition said that the election tribunal has based its verdict over the irregularities in seven polling stations of the constituency. The decision has been equal to deprive the people of the constituency from their representation.

The plea said that the tribunal has in its decision observed that no allegation of rigging has been proved against Khawaja Saad Rafique.

The petition sought the apex court to declare the tribunal’s decision as null and void and reinstate Rafique as member of the National Assembly.

Moreover, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued a notification of annulment of the National Assembly membership of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday.

An election tribunal annulled results of the NA-125 election and ordered a re-poll on the seat won by Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Monday.
