Saif Ali Khan’s problems just won’t die down, will they?

The Bollywood actor was involved in a brawl almost three years ago in 2012, where he beat up an Indian businessman in a reputable hotel. The incident took place on February 22, 2012 at the Taj hotel, when Saif and his two friends Bilal Amrohi and Shakkel Ladak, were arrested after they beat up Mir Iqbal Sharma, a businessman.

In June of this year, the court had directed the case towards a mediator. However, this is what the public prosecutor for the case said:-

“I have moved an application before the mediator saying that the complainant ( Iqbal Mir Sharma) doesn’t want to go for mediation but wants trial to go ahead in the case,” public prosecutor Wajid Sheikh told PTI.

Hence, Sheikh stated that the matter would now go to a trial court.

The court has framed charges against them under Sections 325 (assault) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code. They have pleaded innocence to the crimes.

According to the police, Sharma had protested against the loud noises and chatter of Saif Ali Khan and his friends, on which the actor allegedly threatened him. Subsequently, the situation escalated and Saif Ali Khan beat up Sharma and fractured his nose. Mir Iqbal Sharma also stated that the actor had hit his father-in-law Raman Patel during the assault as well.

Saif Ali Khan, on the other hand, had alleged that Sharma had resorted to using derogatory language against his wife and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan and her sister, also a famous Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, during the spat. The actresses had been there with Saif Ali Khan and his two friends when the incident had taken place inside the hotel.

Saif Ali Khan recently earned the ire of Pakistani artists and people for his provocative statements about Pakistan. Saif’s recent film Phantom which also starred Katrina Kaif, got banned in Pakistan.
