KARACHI: President and CEO of ARY Network Salman Iqbal on Sunday forgave Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) women workers alleged to be involved in attack on ARY News Bureau Office, ARY News reported.

Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly and senior MQM leader Khawaj Izhar-ul-Hussain and senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar had requested Salman Iqbal to pardon the women workers who were arrested under suspicion of having involvement in attack on media houses.

“I have close relation with the people of Karachi. Being Karachiite, I respect women of the megapolis including the arrested ones,” he said while announcing forgiveness for the women workers of MQM.

Six women workers of the MQM alleged to be involved in attacking the Bureau Office of ARY News were arrested on Saturday.

Salman Iqbal said FIR against the assailants was registered by the government. Whatever happened in attack on ARY News office was very bad.

“I always pray and try to work for the progress of Pakistan, especially Karachi,” he said.

The arrested MQM women include Rabia Baji, the joint incharge of MQM’s Women Wing, her daughter and Qurratullain, an elected councilor.

A local court had yesterday sent three female MQM workers on remand with police till August 30.
