Saudi Arabia, Iran should resolve issues through talks: PM Nawaz

PM Nawaz Sharif and Saudi Defence Minister Mohammad bin Salman discussed the bilateral ties between the Pakistan and Saudi Arabia whereas the overall regional situation was also talked upon in the meeting.

The hostile bilateral relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia were also discussed between the Pakistani Premier and Saudi Defence Minister.

In the meeting, PM Nawaz said that his country wants the two Islamic countries to resolve their issues through talks.

He also stressed on the need to make Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) an active institution.

The Saudi defence minister said that the South Asian country has always played a key role in critical situations. He added that Saudi Arabia has always respected its brotherly ties with Pakistan.

Saudi defence minister meets COAS

Saudi deputy crown prince and Defence Minister Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud met Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Sunday.

According to a press release by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters related to regional security and defence cooperation came under discussion during the meeting.

“COAS said Pakistan enjoys close and brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and attaches great importance to their security. Pakistan holds its defence ties with KSA in highest esteem and re-asserted that any threat to Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity would evoke a strong response from Pakistan”, the release read.
