According to details, a hearing was conducted today regarding a petition that had been filed pertaining to the schools’ security case. The court remarked during proceedings that they were aware how private schools were charging extra fee from students for security. The court also expressed dissatisfaction at the report presented by the provincial government and asked the Special Secretary Education and DG School Mansoob Siddiqui at 11 a.m.

The hearing was conducted by a two-bench member headed by Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.

Much emphasis has been laid on the security situation of schools and educational institutes in Pakistan, following deadly attacks on the Army Public School in Peshawar and the recent Bacha Khan University attack in Charsadda. Scores of people were killed in both attacks, prompting calls for more enhanced security measures to ensure no loss of life occurs.

Militants and extremists have time and again issued threats to educational institutes, especially private schools.
