Secretary ECP arrives Karachi today to review by-poll arrangements

KARACHI: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Babar Yaqoob arriving Karachi today to review the arrangements of by-election in National Assembly constituency NA-246, ARY News reported.

Secretary ECP will meet Director General Sindh Rangers to discuss security arrangements during the election.

Babar Yaqoob will also meet the contestants of the by-election.

Secretary ECP will preside over a high level meeting at the election commission office tomorrow.

Electioneering in NA-246

The election campaign has heated up as Jamaat Islami (JI) holding women’s rally today. JI emir Sirajul Haq will address the gathering.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will flex its muscles with a public meeting in Liaquatabad on Saturday.

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will reach Karachi tomorrow to address an election rally in the city on April 19 (Sunday).

The NA-246 of Karachi witnessing hectic political activities due to by-poll in the National Assembly constituency on April 23. The seat fell vacant after Nabeel Gabol who was elected on the ticket of MQM in the 2013 general elections, resigned from his seat after developing differences with the party.

A number of candidates are contesting the election which mostly a three-pronged contest between MQM’s Kunwar Naveed Jamil, PTI’s Imran Ismail and JI’s Rashid Nasim.

The by-polls are scheduled to be held on April 23, 2015.
