However, it’s unclear whether Mr. Sethi has forwarded any written proposal to the PCB in this regard.

In addition, a petition campaign is also going on with full swing on the internet to rename Islamabad International Airport after Abdul Sattar Edhi. Several thousand online users have signed the petition expressing their approval for the cause.

Edhi was revered for setting up maternity wards, morgues, orphanages, shelters and homes for the elderly, picking up where limited government-run services fell short.

Edhi, known as a ‘servant of humanity’ and who also ran the world’s largest private ambulance network, was suffering from severe kidney problems.

Edhi’s coffin, wrapped in the green national flag and covered with pink rose-petals, was carried on a military jeep into the national stadium in Karachi where there was a guard of honour as thousands paid tribute. A 21 gun salute was also offered on his funeral.
