‘Killers’ of Chaudhary Aslam among 7 shot dead in police encounter

KARACHI: Police on Sunday claimed to have killed seven terrorists, with three of them involved in murder of SSP CID Chaudhary Aslam, in an encounter in Ayub Goth, ARY News reported.

According to SSP Malir Rao Anwar, police party carried out a targeted raid in Ayub Goth regarding reports of presence of hardened criminals in the neighbourhood.

Talking to ARY News, he confirmed that three of slain terrorists were involved in assassination of SSP CID Chaudhary Aslam. One of them was one who had provided a car for attack on late SSP Aslam, he added. The three attackers were identified as Ameen, Lalzada and Hazrat Hussain.

Sighting arrival of law enforcers, terrorists opened fire on the police. However, in retaliation fire, at least seven terrorists were killed.

SSP CID Chaudhary Aslam’s was killed in a suicide blast in January this year in Karachi.

SSP Anwar said the operation was launched following a tip-off about presence of criminals. He said the terrorists killed had their affiliations with the banned outfit.

Gadap Police, which launched the targeted raid, said they faced strong resistance from the criminals during the raid.
