LAHORE: Several foreign players have signed to play Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Pakistan, Chairman Executive Committee Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi said on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

He said PCB is striving hard to bring international cricket home. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has given go-ahead for the PSL finale in Lahore.

“It is clearly mentioned in the forms handed over to the foreign players (aspiring to play PSL) that you have to play the final match in Lahore, in case your team reaches final and several foreign players have so far signed them. Insha Allah, this is going to happen. We are striving hard to hold the final in Lahore,” he said while talking to media.

He said the CM has vowed he will fully support us. While, we have already written to the administration and we are in touch with them for preparations.

‘Shahid Afridi is currently the biggest star of Pakistan’

To a query, he said Pakistan cricket has not produced a bigger star in the modern times than Shahid Khan Afridi.

Afridi says playing farewell match is his right

“We will do whatever possible for the star cricketer’s respectable retirement,” he said.

Sethi said he would soon have a meeting with Afridi to discuss proposals of his retirement.

It has been decided by all the executives of PCB, including Shahryar Khan and Mickey Arthur, that professionalism of the team would not be disturbed. Team has embarked upon a new journey of success under young players. Therefore, it was not possible that for a cultural reason we overrule professionalism and include Afridi in a match, he said.

“We are waiting for the right opportunity. I cannot disclose everything. Some things are cooking under the carpet,” he said.

Without clarifying much, he said this opportunity would be something fantastic. It is not a charity match. We are in the middle of something.
