Shah hopeful of CEC selection by Dec 5

ISLAMABAD:  Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said that it was hoped that suitable candidate for the post of Chief Election Commissioner will be selected before December 5 [as ordered by the apex court], ARY News reported Monday.

Speaking to media after meeting the prime minister in Islamabad, Shah said CEC name could not be finalized as yet.

I will meet with the PM tomorrow as well, he added. “We also discussed new and old names for the CEC post with the prime minister.”

Several names, he said, were discussed during the meeting.

He said it was their responsibility to propose name for CEC who is honest and acceptable to all.

To a question, Shah said nobody was so powerful who could shut down the country. Protest is their [PTI’s] right and they can certainly register it.
