Inner dissensions and rivalries within the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf came to the fore when senior leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi openly criticised fellow members Jahangir Tareen and Chaudhry Mohommad Sarwar.
During his address to the workers, Qureshi lambasted both leaders and stated that Tareen’s Unity Group was sowing the seeds of dissension within the party’s ranks. “If I have to obtain a ticket from Jahangir Tareen or Chadhry Sarwar, I would rather quit politics instead,” he said.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi also said that tickets in PTI would be distributed on the basis of performance and merit. It is now high time that distinction should be made between division and ideology, he stated.
Jahangir Tareen also reacted to Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s outburst by saying that he was disappointed with that the latter had said. Tareen stated his views via a couple of tweets.
I was sorry to hear SMQ’s outburst. I am sure he didn’t mean it as this is the time for PTI to close ranks.
