According to details, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif reached Saudi Arabia on Wednesday along with PM’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry.
Shahbaz Sharif called on Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al Faisal in Jeddah. The meeting is viewed as greatly important regarding Pakistan’s role in Yemen conflict, although Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has clarified that Pakistan supports the Arab coalition, but it has not decided to land its troops n Yemen.
He had also said that Pakistan will fully respond if it came to Saudi territorial integrity.
On the other hand, the kingdom is hopeful that Pakistan will send its troops to fight Houthi rebels in Yemen, despite the parliamentary resolution passed lately.
Saudi Minister for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz also informed the Pakistani leadership about the Yemen offensive and the threats posed to Saudi Arabia, during his visit to Pakistan.
However, the minutes of the meeting are yet to be revealed as to what consensus the two states reach regarding Yemen issue.
