“There is an offer. There is someone who has something for me,” Warne said while attending a Tourism Victoria event. The prospect of starring in an Indian film is not a new one for the Aussie cricketers. Ex-pacer brett Lee, who used to be a ruthless Australia fast bowler, recently shot a $4.5 million Bollywood film titled ‘Unindian’. The film was shot in Sydney and directed by Anupam Sharma. Indian actress Tanishta Chatterjee will play the lead actress beside Brett in the new film.
Shane Warne is considered arguably the best spin bowler to have graced the game of cricket ever. One of the highlights of the leg-spinner’s career was bamboozling the Pakistani batting line-up during the 1999 cricket world cup final. Warne’s swindling spin and deceiving variations made him the architect of Australia’s eight wicket world cup win in 1999 and many more wins for the Australian team, throughout his career.
After quitting international cricket in 2007, Shane Warne courted public criticism and controversy when his marital infidelities became common knowledge. The leaked pictures of him with a couple of models resulted in him and his wife Simone going through an unfortunate divorce. Warne’s relationship with English actress Elizabeth Hurley, following his divorce also received considerable media attention. The couple got engaged but according to media reports, later broke it off.
We can’t argue about Warne’s cricketing credentials but as far as his acting is concerned, we’ll have to wait and see. Also, it remains to be seen how the legendary spinner would fare in a Bollywood film meant more for the Indian audience. For now, the retired Aussie cricket star is more focused on tweeting cricketing analysis on his official Twitter account. Let’s hope the project goes to floor soon enough!
