Nawaz Sharif, speaking at a function of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) on Saturday, said that the country is facing lot of challenges which will take some time to be resolved.
“The media should focus on helping the government by forgetting their ratings. There should be balanced reporting regarding the national security issues”, he said.
The premier stated that he respects the sacrifices of journalists who have supported democracy and constitution.
The prime minister added that he did not understand the objectives of the people staging sit-ins in Islamabad. He stated that the sit-ins had negative impact on the national economy as Pakistani currency was devalued during the protests.
