JEDDAH: According to the Arab media, moon for the Islamic month of Shawwal has not been sighted in Saudi Arabia, therefore Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Wednesday, ARY News reported.

Saudi authorities had convened a meeting today to sight the moon. While, the Supreme Court Saudi Arabia had called on all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to look for the Shawwal moon to determine the beginning of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Whoever sights the crescent to report to the nearest court and register his testimony or report to the authority of the region’s center in his area,” the Supreme Court had asked.

On the other hand, central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday to witness Shawwal crescent in Pakistan.

Regional moon sighting committees would hold meetings in different cities of the country and collect witnesses to pass on to the central committee.
