KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued directive to hand over control of Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Center (JPMC) and National Institute of Child Health (NICH) to the federation, ARY News reported.

Employees of JPMC and NICH had pleaded the court to hand over control of the hospitals to the federal government.

After hearing arguments of the opposite parties, the SHC ordered in favor of the employees to hand over both the public hospitals to the center.

It is pertinent here to mention that the court order is a violation of 18th Amendment, according to which control of medical and health organizations and other many organizations had been given to the provincial governments.

This should also be noted that young doctors of the public hospitals had been protesting for several months for overdue salaries and also bringing them at par with salaries being paid in Punjab.
