According to details, a gun battle ensued between terrorists and officials of an intelligence agency at the Sharaqpur Road in Sheikhupura. During the exchange of gunfire, seven terrorists were killed. Two kilograms of explosive material, hand grenades and other sophisticated weapons were seized from the terrorists. A car and three motorcycles were also recovered from the slain militants.

Sources revealed that the militants were planning on carrying out attacks in Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura. All slain terrorists belong to banned outfits and groups. The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Terrorists have been plotting and carrying out nefarious attacks in different parts of the country. On January 20, 2016 just thirteen months after the Army Public School massacre had taken place in Peshawar, the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda was attacked by armed militants. More than twenty people had been killed in that attack and forty had been injured. Armed forces had taken over the university and killed all terrorists involved in the attack.
