SHO shot dead in Lahore

LAHORE: A station house officer (SHO) of Lahore police was shot dead by unidentified assailants here in Defense on Saturday, ARY News reported.

SHO Tajammul Hussain Butt was posted at Shad Bagh police station, police said. He came to Defense Phase-7 in his vehicle along with two of his friends that two unknown assailants riding a motorbike opened fire at him.

The deadly gun shots killed Butt on the spot, while the two of his companions remained unhurt during the episode. The attackers, as is seen in majority of such cases, managed a clean get away from the spot.

Senior police officials arrived at the spot, while forensic experts collected circumstantial evidence. Butt was said to have sustained five bullet wounds.

Police are investigating all the aspects of the incident including target killing, personal enmity and mugging attempt, said SSP CIA Umar Virk.

Virk said the companions, who were present with the slain officer at the time of incident, have also been taken into custody.

He told that three different teams of cops have been tasked to arrest the culprits.
