Shutter down in Sindh cities and towns after Soomro's murder

SUKKUR: Shutter down being observed in Sukkur and adjoining towns to protest against the murder of JUI-F leader Dr. Khalid Mehmood Soomro, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Soomro, Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl), Sindh chapter was shot dead in Sukkur in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

All large markets and business centres of Sukkur in upper Sindh have been closed and scarce traffic being witnessed at roads.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at Soomro when he was returning after leading Fajar prayers at a mosque in SITE area of Sukkur.
The city administration has deployed police at the key intersections of Sukkur to tackle any untoward incident.

Khalid Mehmood Soomro was in Sukkur to attend a conference.

The remains of Dr. Khalid Mehmood Soomro were taken to his residence in Larkana from the hospital. He will be laid to rest in a local graveyard today.

Angry JUI-F workers came to roads and blocked roads in various cities and towns of Sindh.

The party workers in Karachi held protest near Ghaggar Phatak at the National Highway and blocked the road for traffic.

The life paralyzed in Thull, Garhi Khero and Jacobabad with complete shutter-down. The markets and businesses have also been closed in Mirpur Mathelo, Daharki,  Khairpur, Naushehro Feroz, Moro, Kandiaro, Mehrabpur, Padidan, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Tangwani, Obauro, Matiari and staged sit-ins at National Highway to protest against the killing of the party leader.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has demanded the government to ensure a thorough investigation into the attack and punish those responsible for the murder.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and other leaders have also condemned the murder of Dr. Khalid Mehmood Soomro.
