Sindh Cabinet meets over drought crisis in Mithi

MITHI: Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has arrived in Mithi with his ministers to discuss the drought crisis in Sindh’s desert district of Tharparkar, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Security has been stepped up in Mithi, the chief town of Tharparkar district, ahead of the provincial cabinet’s meeting.

A two-year child Arbab Rajar died in Mithi today increasing death toll of children in food shortage hit region to 54.

Scores of children have been admitted at hospitals and many said to be in a precarious state.

Malnutrition has been chronic in mothers in Tharparkar causing a deadly situation especially for children.

The government of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah facing scathing criticism from the opposition parties for alleged lethargy to tackle the drought situation in Tharparkar.
