Sindh extends ban on arms display in Karachi

KARACHI: The Home Department of Sindh on Tuesday extended ban on arms display by 90 days, in order to maintain law and order during forthcoming local body (LB) elections in Karachi, ARY News reported.

The home department today issued a notification extending the ban in Karachi by 90 days under Section 144. The ban was to expire on November 24, but now it will be in effect till February 23.

As per the notification, no security guard could wield a weapon without wearing uniform, nor could their vehicles carry arms.

The notification also bars private vehicles from the use of police lights and sirens, tinted windows and fancy number plates.

The home department also directed police and Rangers to take strict action against the ones violating the ban.
