Sindh Government slashes transport fares

KARACHI: Transport Department of Sindh has announced decrease in inter-city bus and goods transport fares by seven percent, ARY News reports on Monday.

Secretary Transport Sindh, in an announcement, has said that rickshaw and taxi fares have been slashed by 10 percent whereas the reduction in the public bus fares has not been decided as of yet.

The fares have been revised due to the decrease in petroleum prices.

It should be noted that prices of petroleum products were slashed twice earlier. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered the Chief Ministers of all provinces to ensure that the revised transport fares are implemented in the country.

However, Karachi Transport Union has rejected the decision of the government by stating that several buses are running on CNG and the prices on the gas were not brought down.
