Western agenda on madaris unacceptable, Siraj tells govt

LAHORE: The emir of Jamat e Islami (JI), Sirajul Haq has asked the government to refrain from imposing western agenda on madaris [religious seminaries] taking the shelter of the Peshawar school attack, ARY News reported.

Talking to media after meeting a delegation of the Ittehad Tanzeematul Madaris at Mansoora, Sirajul Haq said that a specific lobby in the country is up for maneuvering the Peshawar school attack against religious seminaries and Islam.

He suggested the government to take religious scholars into confidence on whatever policy it devises about madaris in the National Action Plan.

“There is no one as loyal to Pakistan as the ulema and religious scholars”, said the JI emir. “Any discrimination towards religious seminaries will not be tolerated at all”.

Moreover, Qari Hanif Jalandhari and Mufti Muneeb ur Rahman also addressed the ceremony held on this occasion.
