Six die in rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: At least six persons lost their lives in rain-related incidents in northwestern parts of the country, ARY News reported.

The rain-related deaths were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Khyber Agency.

A vehicle got washed away by by floodwaters in Landi Kotal tehsil of Khyber Agency causing deaths of four people including a man, a woman and their two children. Two other people in the unfortunate vehicle were rescued by the people.

In another incident, the rooftop of a house collapsed due to heavy rains in Charsadda, leaving a woman and her daughter dead. Four others sustained serious injuries in the incident.

The injured were shifted to a medical facility for treatment, local sources said.

Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasted hot and dry weather in plain areas of the country during day time for the next 24 hours. However, more rain-thunderstorms with strong gusty are expected at different places in KP, Islamabad, upper Punjab, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Rain with strong gusty/dust raising winds are expected at few places in south Punjab, northeast Balochistan and upper Sindh during evening/night.
