Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar respond to AIB criticism

It seems like the controversy and outcry regarding the AIB’s roast of actors Ranveer SIngh and Arjun Kapoor is far from ending at the moment. Some Bollywood stars, majority of them who were not themselves roasted, took to Twitter and fired back at the critics for protesting the offensive language used in the show.

The AIB roast was filmed in late December and was released on Youtube on January 28th this year. Soon after being uploaded, the jocular yet offensive language raised a couple of eyebrows. A couple of actors and actresses from the Indian film industry including Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ali Bhatt.
Actress Deepika Padukone was made the brunt of some harsh jokes at the roast. Her past relationship with Ranbir Kapoor and her recent fling with Ranveer Singh was made fun of. Deepika seemed not to mind the situation as she laughed at every joke and later tweeted in support of the comedy show.

Sonkashi Sinha, who was also seated in the front row, was also targeted quite frequently for dating ArjunKapoor during the AIB gig. The actress also seemed to be delighted with the jokes poked at her and laughed along at every joke. Her body shape was also ridiculed when one of the contestants called her a ‘carbohydrate’ yet Sinha didn’t seem to mind it one bit. She also tweeted in favor of the roast.

Karan Johar was the host of the roast or more appropriately, the ‘roastmaster’ and was also subjected frequently to jokes about his sexuality. Karan also blew off some steam by simply stating just one line for the critics:-

The AIB organized show seemed to have everyone in attendance in fits of laughter. It also raked in an impressive Rs. forty lacs for charity, some of which will also be donated to actor Salman Khan’s Being Human. The roast also drew praises from Anushka Sharma, Twinkle Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Huma Qureshi and Arshad Warsi.
AIB was forced to take the video down from Youtube after Maharashtra government stated that the video will be investigated for obscenities.
