Stringent security in place for Ashura processions

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI/LAHORE: A high-level meeting was held in Islamabad to review the law and order situation during Muharram-ul-Haram.

Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan chaired the meeting.

The meeting was told that necessary security arrangements have been made for Ashura processions.

In Islamabad, main Ashura procession will be taken out today and the administration has finalized all arrangements to maintain peace and tranquility on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order to implement code of conduct for maintaining law and order during Yaum-e-Ashur at all costs.

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also asked Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to ensure foolproof security arrangements on Ashura across the province.

A meeting on security of 9th and 10th Muharram majalis and processions was held in Karachi under Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister directed to ensure fool-proof security during the 9th and 10th Muharram throughout the province.

In Peshawar, on the routes of mourning processions, the administration has installed 103 CCTV cameras besides setting up of 24 checking points.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has said law and order will be maintained on the occasion of Muharram-ul-Haram in Balochistan at all costs.

In a statement, he said that no one should be allowed to disturb law and order situation in the province.
