Tassaduq Jillani refuses to take up CEC job after Bhagwandas

ISLAMABAD: Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jilani too has refused to take charge of the post of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan after his contemporary Rana Bhagwandas did the same, ARY News reported.

A coveted post till today, Justice Jilani is the second senior judge to turn down the offer to assume the charge after government and opposition leader Khursheed Shah agreed on his name.

Earlier, Rana Bhagwandas rejected the nomination of the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in a meeting with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Raza Rabbani.

Apparently, Jillani refused to become CEC following opposition by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who expressed his lack of trust in the retired judge for the slot.
