Tayyaba torture case: Court extends interim bail of accused judge

ISLAMABAD: Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad on Thursday extended interim bail of accused additional sessions judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan in the torture case of 10-year old child-maid Tayyaba, ARY News reported.

The judge, allegedly involved in the torture of 10-year old Tayyaba, appeared in the court hearing on Thursday (today) and pleaded for extension in bail, which had expired today.

The court extended Khan’s bail till 1st February, 2017 and ordered the accused to appear in the next hearing.

Additional Sessions Judge Raja Asif Mehmood granted interim bail to Khan on the security of Rs. 30,000 worth of surety bonds.

The pictures of the 10-year old housemaid Tayyaba went viral on social media with internet users claiming that the maid works at additional session judge Khurram Ali Khan’s house, was severely tortured by the family of the judge.

Tayyaba, after being recovered by the law enforcement agencies, claimed that she fell from stairs but in the statement recorded for the First Information Report (FIR), the girl stated that she was tortured by the judge’s family.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar had taken suo motu notice of the case of alleged torture on the 10-year old and constituted a bench for hearing of the case.
