Major terror attack plan foiled in Karachi

KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department has claimed to have arrested scores of militants and foiled major terror attack in Karachi, ARY News reported citing a CTD officer.

In-charge CTD Malir Ali Raza, informed media persons that on an intelligence tip off 11 terrorism accused were arrested from Mohammad Khan Colony of Ittehad Town including two key commanders of an outlawed outfit.

The CTD official said that the suspects were planning an assault like the June 2014 Karachi airport attack to occupy sensitive government buildings.

According to tghe official, large quantity of explosives and sophisticated weapons were seized from the terror suspects.

The suspects had been involved in targeted killings and other terror incidents in Karachi during the past two years, the official said.

The identified the key suspects as Mohammed Irshad, alias Zahid, and Qari Mohammed Hasan and Qari Mohammed Akram.

The other held suspects were identified as Maulana Abdul Wahab, Syed Mohammed Riaz Anwar, Mohsin Khan, Anas Ahmed, alias Ansi, Mohammed Hunzila Ashraf, Abdul Wakeel, Raghib and Awais, alias Kashi.
