Terrorists using Afghan soil to attack Pakistan: Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif says Afghan soil is being used by the militants for carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan.

In an interview, he said recent terrorism in different parts of the country was carried out under a plan.

The Defence Minister said Pakistan has closed Pak-Afghan border for an indefinite period over security reasons and summoned Afghan diplomats at Foreign Office and GHQ to raise the issue.

Pakistan on Friday summoned officials of the Afghan embassy to the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to protest over the recent terrorists attack reportedly carried out from Afghan soil.

The Afghan officials were handed a list of 76 terrorists hiding in Afghanistan.

The Afghan government was asked to either take “immediate action” against them or hand them over to Pakistan

Pakistan on February 16 also closed the border for Afghanistan with immediate effect till further notice over security reasons. Earlier, the Foreign Office had summoned the deputy envoy of Afghanistan to protest over the use the Afghan soil to launch terrorist attacks within Pakistan.
