The fire fighters failed to overcome the third degree fire in a local factory in the SITE industrial area several hours after the blaze mainly due to limited resources.
According to the fire brigade officials, eight fire tenders and rescue workers were dispatched to the SITE area, keeping in view the intensity of the fire. During the continuous struggle against fire, the fire tenders ran out of the water. According to the officials, gas pipeline leakages were the reason behind the fire.
The blaze damaged a large section of the building and destroyed nylon, garment and other input worth millions of rupees. The fire is yet to be extinguished.
Two other incidents of fire, at a medicine manufacturing factory in Gulbai and a godown in Mauripur also raging without control.
The fire gutted a large quantity of medicines in the warehouse. Everything including medicines stored in the warehouse turned to ashes in the fire.
A short circuit in the factory building said to be the cause of the blaze.
According to sources, the chemicals and foam needed for extinguishing industrial fires are are also scarcely available with the city’s fire fighting department.
