Three NADRA offices involved in issuing fake CNICs closed

KARACHI: Chairman National Database and Regulatory Authority (NADRA) Usman Mubeen on Monday has ordered the concerned officials to seal three of its offices in Karachi, ARY News reports.

According to details, NADRA chief has taken the decision to close the offices in Karachi’s Ayesha Manzil, Baldia-I and New Karachi till further notice.

The administrative action was taken following the malpractices were exposed in the ARY News program Sar-e-Aam, hosted by anchor Iqrar-ul-Hassan. The sting operation by Sar-e-Aam team exposed how the institute was providing fake National Identity Cards (NICs).

NADRA has also launched inquiry against 50 of its employees involved in the scam while 68 others have been transferred from its headquarters in Karachi.
