Tokyo stocks down 0.78% by break

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks fell 0.78 percent Friday morning, despite fresh records on Wall Street, as the yen recovered from multi-year lows and investors focus on political developments as Japan gears up for an election next month.

The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange eased 135.36 points to 17,165.50 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares declined 0.63 percent, or 8.84 points, to 1,388.80.-AFP
