PESHAWAR: To promote and highlight adventure tourism in the province, Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – TCKP in collaboration with Adventure Edge Private Ltd. conducted a thrilling water rafting activity at spectacular River Kabul from Jahangira to Old Attock Bridge on 27th November 2016.
A large number of adventure lovers both male and female youth participated in this wonderful alluring activity. TCKP has arranged rafting activity for the first time over River Kabul provincially, which is a good step for the promotion of adventure tourism in the region and portrayal of positive and soft image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Talking to media, Secretary Tourism, Sports, Youth Affairs, Culture and Archaeology Tariq Khan said that the prime objective of organizing a water rafting activity is to provide recreational opportunity to the general public specifically youth. As water rafting is an adventurous and physical way to explore nature. Such adventurous activities will be organized to facilitate more participants in future as well.
Besides Secretary Tourism Mr. Tariq Khan, Deputy Secretary for Tourism and Sports, Mr. Adil Safi, Deputy Commissioner Nowshehra Mr. Sikandar Zeeshan, Director of Adventure Edge Club Mr. Khalid Khalil and others dignitaries were also present at the occasion. Participants were facilitated to experience the best guides, rafting equipment and refreshments. The shuttle service from Peshawar to Jahingira, food, first aid kit and other facilities were also provided during the event.
Since November various recreational and adventurous activities including Paragliding, Rafting, Safari Train Excursion, Religious visits of Sikh Community and Delegation of France &European Union to Peshawar Museum and archaeological sites, city tours of walled city Peshawar for students and families were organised by Tourism Corporation KP. Apart from that several other exhilarating adventurous and recreational activities are in pipeline.
Female from all walks of life were the enthusiastic participants among others. Speaking at the occasion the female participants said that Rafting is one of the adventurous and thrilling activities but adventure is for the adventurers. It is a good initiative taken by Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and should be conducted on regular basis.
To promote adventure tourism in the best rafting location other two activities are arranged by TCKP as scheduled on: Dec 1 and Dec 25, 2016.
