‘Tractor trolley’ rant: Court accepts Mazari’s plea against Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday admitted petition for hearing filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central information secretary Dr Shireen Mazari against Defence Minister Khawaja Asif for calling the PTI legislator ‘tractor trolly’ during the assembly session.

Ms Mazara, who is member National Assembly, has sought disqualification of Asif for using unethical language against her.

In her petition, Dr Mazari contended that Khawaja Asif during National Assembly session on June 8 used unethical language against her.

She has made Ministry of Law & Justice, speaker NA, federal minister for parliamentary affairs and Khawaja Asif as respondents in the plea.

During the NA session on June 8, Asif dubbed PTI senior leader Shireen Mazari ‘Trolley Tractor’, leading to prompt counter attack from the PTI parliamentarians.

The issue erupted when Asif was speaking in the House, claiming that country was facing no loadshedding during Sehr and iftar hours that drew ire of the opposition who reacted to the minister’s statement sharply, calling it wrong.

When the opposition was chanting slogans against the government, the defence minister particularly referred to Ms Mazari and called her ‘tractor trolley’.
