Traffic cop among six killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Another traffic police man was shot dead in Karachi on Wednesday taking the overall toll in September to six, ARY News reported.

The month of September proved to be deadliest for Karachi traffic police, as another of its man was killed in a firing incident in Malir today.

This was the seventh attack on Karachi traffic police this month.

On the whole, six cops have fallen prey to target killers in the city, while several were injured.

Hitmen targeted cops at Nipa Chowrangi, Defense More, Gulbai, Mai Kolachi, Board Office and Malir.

The traffic cop killed today was identified as ASI Zulfikar, however it could not be ascertained whether he was armed at the time of attack.

In view of increasing attacks, traffic police have already been stopped from performing duties in sensitive areas.

Five more people were killed in different incidents of violence across the city.

Unknown assailants shot dead a man named Nadeem at Lyari’s Cheel Chowk, while another man, Asad, was gunned down in Liaquatabad.

Another person fell prey to the deadly gunshots in Pak Colony, while two tortured bodies were recovered from the bounds of Orangi Town and Steel Town power plant.
