Alternative routes announced ahead of Zardari’s airport reception

KARACHI:  Karachi Traffic Police on Thursday announced an alternate traffic plan to avoid snarl-ups due to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) rally to welcome party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on his return to the country, ARY News reported.

The former president is expected to land in Karachi at 1 PM and will address the rally at the Old Terminal of Jinnah International Airport.

Party leaders and workers are expected to attend the rally in large numbers.

THE PLAN

A statement from Karachi Traffic Police states that no roads will be closed for his arrival but traffic will be diverted at some points.

Residents and of Clifton and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) are advised to commute from Hino Chowrangi road and Korangi Industrial Area road, Murtaza Chowrangi, Malir Halt, Model Colony road and then move on to the airport.

Those going to Ziauddin Hospital Clifton are advised to use Sea View Road and China Chowrangi Road while those trying to reach South City Hospital are advised to use Bahria Underpass

Residents of Clifton/DHA visiting Jinnah Hospital are advised to use Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road to Cantt Station road.

Residents of Landhi/Korangi should turn left from Canteen Stores Department (CSD) towards Jinnah Hospital, while residents of Garden/Saddar are advised to commute from Saddar area.

Those visiting Agha Khan and Liaquat National Hospital are requested to use National Stadium road from University Road, and New Town.

The traffic police will bar all heavy vehicles from Jinnah Bridge to Punjab Chowrangi, and will divert them from Mauripur Road to Northern Bypass.
