Trump wants to have good ties with Pakistan: envoy

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador in the United States Jalil Abbas Jillani has said that US president-elect Donald Trump has expressed wish for having good ties with Pakistan.

He was speaking exclusively with ARY News.

Jillani said that he met Trump in a lunch hosted by leaders of Republican Party and the soon-to-be US president has expressed his well wishes for Pakistan.

The Pakistani ambassador went on to say that Trump had expressed his determination for efforts in reducing hostilities between Pakistan and India.

He added that former Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari and large number of people from the Pakistani community will be present at Trump’s inauguration.

It should be noted that Jillani had earlier said that the government of Pakistan will work jointly with the new administration of coming US president Donald Trump.

He had also said that Trump administration was aware of the problems faced by Pakistan.

The envoy had stated that Pakistan hoped that the US will review its decision regarding the sale of F-16 fighter jets and releasing the coalition support fund to Pakistan.
