Trump’s cabinet owns more wealth than the annual GDP of 87 countries

WASHINGTON: Donald Trump’s net worth estimating to be around $3.7 billion has always been synonymous to his identity, but the Cabinet he has picked is also nowhere behind in terms of affluence.

Todd Ricketts, Trump’s pick for deputy commerce secretary, has an estimated net worth of $4.5 billion, and the new secretary of commerce, Wilbur Ross, is worth $2.5bn.

According to the UN data from 2014, the cabinet is worth an estimated $14.5bn. That’s more than the GDP of 87 countries (or 14 countries combined).

But the US-president elect is still not done with picking his complete Cabinet members.

The GDP is one of the primary indicators used to gauge the health of a country’s economy. It represents the total dollar value of all goods and services produced over a specific time period; you can think of it as the size of the economy.
