TV actor Nadeem Jaffery shot in Karachi

The news of the attack was revealed by renown TV artist Fakhr-e-Alam through a tweet. 

According to police, armed robbers looted the actor and his friend outside the former’s residence in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. SSP East has been tasked with investigation of the incident by Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial.

Alam, in his tweet, said the “robbers shot Jaafri multiple times, but he survived miraculously”.

He sustained bullet wounds and was taken to a hospital.

Jafri had recently made a film debut in comedy flick Wrong Number.

Case registered against attack

The case of attack against Jaffery has been registered at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station. Two armed assailants had attacked the artist and his friend near the former’s residence in Gulshan Block-3 area.

In an interview before the move release, Jafri said he played a gangster and he never succeeded in his plans and ended up being a complete loser throughout the flick.

“The best part about the script is that you have to be serious when being comical and that’s the kind of humor I have inside me,’ he said.

Recently on June 22, unknown armed motorcyclists sprayed famed qawwal Amjad Sabri with bullets in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi when the 45-year-old was on his way to a private TV channel to perform in its Ramazan transmission.

Sabri’s killing shook the entire Pakistani showbiz fraternity, prompting actors, led by Fakhr-i-Alam, to make a video in which they demanded the government to provide them with the same security as government officials had.

Amjad Sabri was the nephew of legend qawwali Maqbool Sabri who passed away in 2011. Maqbool Sabri along with his brother, the late Ghulam Farid Sabri, formed a formidable qawwali group in the mid-50s and became known for their soul-stirring renditions of mystic poetry.
