TV channel faked ‘dog meat’ news to get ratings: police

KARACHI: As news of dog meat sellers spread like a wildfire in Karachi, the police came up with a stark revelation hours after the arrest of suspected butchers, terming the entire episode as drama staged by a private TV channel, ARY News reported.

Police said a private TV channel forced drug addicts to act like butchers, selling dog meat, in order to hog the limelight and glean television ratings.

They said the alleged butchers were actually drug addicts who were arrested from Ibrahim Hyderi area. “The two drug addicts – Arshad and Imran – were forced to slaughter dogs by a TV channel reporter to get ratings for the channel,” added the police.
