Two cops among five shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Unknown assailants on Tuesday shot two cops dead in Haidery, while three more people including a robber were killed in other incidents in the metropolis, ARY News reported.

According to police, the cops identified as Aslam and Shah Nawaz were on duty near Saima shopping mall in Haidery that unidentified attackers opened fire at them and fled the scene.

The incident resulted in killing of both the cops. Police say that they kicked off investigations into the matter.

In another firing incident, a man was shot dead in New Karachi area.

In Raees Goth, Baldia Town, a man was killed, while another wounded upon resisting a mugging attempt.

In Korangi no. 3, a citizen shot dead a robber who was looting valuables inside a shop.

Police said the citizen who killed the robber was a retired intelligence man, while they seized a motorcycle and weapon from the dacoit.

Meanwhile, Rangers arrested eight suspects in different raids conducted in Gulshan Iqbal, Hub, Baba Bhhit and Bihar Colony.

The suspects were said to be affiliated with banned outfit and Lyari gang war.
