Two cops, woman fall prey to targeted killing

KARACHI: The scourge of targeted killings is still relentless as three people including two police officers were gunned down on late Saturday in separate incidents across the metropolis, ARY News reported.

An assistant sub-inspector was shot dead near airport signal. The cop was identified as Azhar Jaffery. Unidentified assailants waylaid the policeman and opened fire on him, resulting his instant death.

Similarly in another incident, a cop was gunned down near Surjani Town. The deceased police officer Ghulam Rasool was head constable.

In another incident in Memon Goth, unknown armed miscreants opened fire on a woman and fled. She was taken to nearby hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, police and other law enforcement agencies carried out a search operation in different parts of the city including Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar and rounded up at least 40 suspects.

Earlier on Saturday, at least six terrorists affiliated with proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were killed in encounter with police in Sadi Town.
