Two injured in Karachi police ‘encounter’

KARACHI: The reality of police encounters in Karachi exposed badly when a private company’s employee and his cousin were shot by the cops on Wednesday after they failed to stop precisely at the checkpoint, ARY News reported.

The youngster named Fareed was on his way back home along with his cousin that he was flagged down by police.

Talking to ARY News, the youth said that he moved a little ahead after being signaled by police, at which cops opened fire, injuring him and his cousin.

Fareed said he showed his job card to cops, but they insisted on declaring him a criminal. The victim’s brother was also riding along on another motorbike at the time of incident, who confirmed Fareed’s account.

On the other hand, SP SITE said the ‘encounter’ which took place in Lyari was not fake, adding that the police team had reached the spot after being informed about the presence of suspected people on police helpline 15.
