Two militants convicted by military court hanged

SAHIWAL: Two militants who were sentenced to death by a military court were hanged on Thursday, ARY News reported.

According to details provided by jail sources, Ubaidullah and Sohail were executed early morning in Sahiwal. Ubaidullah had received his death sentence from a military court on April 7, 2015. Sohail had been tried and sentenced to die on 15 August, 2015.

Sohail had been convicted for killing two security officials and injuring eighteen others. Two suicide jackets were also recovered from him when he was arrested. Ubaidullah had been found guilty of being involved in the attack on Bannu jail and in attacks on security forces as well.

Pakistan had lifted the moratorium on death penalties after the Army Public School attack in Peshawar on December 16, 2014 when militants had attacked the school and killed more than 140 children.
