University teacher suspended over publication of wrong map

Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran suspended Dr Abida Nasreen, Assistan Professor of Institute of Education and Research, for three months after publication of a wrong map of Pakistan not showing Kashmir region.

The Vice Chancellor suspended the teacher with immediate effect and ordered departmental inquiry of the incident.

According to a report the VC also chaired a meeting of the board of governors of Institute of Education and Research which authorized him to initiate action against the teacher under the service rules and the relevant government law.

The wrong map was used in a flex in the Department of Secondary Education workshop held on September 4 at a university hall.

In a flex which was printed for the workshop wrong of map of Pakistan without geographical boundries of Kashmir was published, PU Spokesman

A spokesman in a statement said that the university will take action against responsible officials and the inquiry of the incident would be completed as soon as possible.
