TOP NEWS

Ashar Azeem has surfaced again after his super hit drama series from the 90s, Dhuan with his very own directorial debut Maalik. Azeem stars in the movie as a dutiful cop and has also penned down the script for the movie.

Ashar Azeem showed up at Sanam Baloch’s morning show to discuss the project. The veteran actor looked visibly shy at the beginning but seemed to fit in as the show progressed. After considerable prodding by Sanam regarding his whereabouts and as to why he didn’t do another drama after Dhuan, the actor admitted he didn’t have time.  The movie’s first look in the form of a trailer was also unveiled at the show. Ashar also disclosed the release date of the film, which is 14th August 2015. The movie stars Sajid Hasan, Farhan Ali Agha and Sabreen Baloch in supporting roles. The trailer of the movie was an impressive one in which the film tells the tale of a kidnapping. The menaces of VIP culture and violence are also highlighted in the film. A special police force, laced with latest equipment and holding powerful laser weapons are also shown as they hunt down terrorists.

After the trailer was shown, his wife Bushra also made her way onto the stage and indulged in a lively chat. Ashar looked visibly comfortable and narrated an interesting anecdote of how he scared his wife once with his temper.

The film is undoubtedly part of the Pakistani film industry’s recent revival with stellar projects such as Namaaloom Afraad, Operation 021 and Waar. The action packed genres highlighting social issues in Pakistan have had a resounding success and revived the cinema culture in Pakistan after a long time. Judging by the promising trailer of Maalik, we are certain the film will be a success upon its release.
