US approves sale of bomb-proof vehicles to Pakistan

The approval from United State came at the time when Pakistan Army is battling against the terrorists in North Waziristan.

According to US Defence Security Cooperation Agency, Navistar, Pakistan has requested US for the purchase of 160 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles, which was approved at an estimated cost of $198 million. Pakistan had also expressed desire to have training for the maintenance and repair of vehicles purchased.

In a statement, US Defence Security agency said that sale of combat goods to Pakistan will not affect the balance of power in the region.

Besides combat goods, US government has announced to send 24 representatives of contractors to Pakistan in order to guide Pakistan engineers for its repair work.
